Basketball Roundup: Elite falls to Fortune Early College

The Elite High boys basketball team couldn’t quite hold on to a late lead on Tuesday night, falling to Fortune Early College 68-65.

“I’m very proud of the effort displayed by his team tonight,” Elite head coach Duke Brown said. “We’ll learn from this and move forward. A lot of good things came out of the game.”

Anthony Monts led the Eagles with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jamaal Mills chipped in eight points and eight rebounds. Amir Goss and Savion McCray also scored eight points apiece.

Elite, 18-6, host Leroy Greene Academy on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.. This will be its home game, as seniors will be recognized before the game.

Benicia 67, Northgate 60

The Benicia High boys basketball team defeated Northgate 67-60 on Tuesday in the first round of the Diablo Athletic League playoffs.

The Panthers will now play at Ygnacio Valley in the second round of the playoffs. North Coast Section playoff brackets are announced over the weekend.

American Canyon 56, Napa 44

The American Canyon boys basketball team defeated Napa 56-44 on Tuesday in the first round of the Vine Valley Athletic League playoffs.

The Wolves improved to 19-8 on the season with the win.
