Toronto Raptors at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

The Toronto Raptors (8-9) face the Brooklyn Nets (8-8) in an in-season tournament game Tuesday at Barclays Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Raptors vs. Nets odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Brooklyn won 4-0 last season

The Raptors were defeated 105-102 by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday despite covering as 3.5-point road underdogs and the Under (222.5) hitting. In his 3rd season in the NBA, F Scottie Barnes has taken a step forward in his development, averaging 19 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game.

The Nets covered as 2.5-point home favorites, and the Over (222.5) connected, in their 118-109 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Sunday. After being a bright spot for Brooklyn to end last season, F Mikal Bridges is leading the way with 21.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.

Raptors at Nets picks and predictions

Nets 114, Raptors 111

While they are dealing with a handful of injuries, I’ll still back the NETS (-130) at home on Tuesday. After starting the season with a 1-3 record at home, Brooklyn has won 4 of its last 5 at Barclays Center.

Against the spread

NETS -2.5 (-105) has better value than taking the moneyline as we only need them to win by at least 3 points to cover the spread. Brooklyn is 9th in offensive rating and 5th in effective field-goal percentage.

Even though the Raptors are a solid 10-7 ATS, the Nets are 12-3-1 ATS, including a 7-1-1 ATS record at home.

Neither of these teams plays at a fast pace, but I’ll lean the OVER 224.5 (-110). There’s a chance Claxton misses for the Nets, which would make it easier for the Raptors to score in the paint.

The Raptors have scored 121 or more points in 3 of their last 5 games. Meanwhile, the Nets are 4-2 to the Over in their last 6 games overall.
