It’s official: Four of the world’s best B&Bs are right here in the UK

TripAdvisor has officially announced the winners of its 2024 Travellers’ Choice Hotels Awards. The awards celebrate the highest rated hotels, B&Bs and inns across the globe, based on TripAdvisor review data from the past 12 months.

And this year the UK scrubbed up pretty nicely. Not one, not two but four British B&Bs made it onto TripAdvisor’s list of top 10 B&Bs and inns in the world, alongside guest houses in India, Morocco, Mauritius, the US and Australia.

The Toulson Court in Scarborough, which impressively retained first place for three years running, was knocked down to second place this year. With over 2,000 ‘excellent’ reviews on the site, one reviewer called The Toulson Court a ‘right gem’ while another called the locally sourced breakfast ‘super dooper’. Guests also mentioned its spotlessness, homely atmosphere and the resident ‘singing chef’.

Landing in sixth place was Exmoor’s Highcliffe House, a B&B with gorgeous views over across the Bristol Channel and into Wales. One reviewer who stayed here wrote that it ‘epitomises that rare combination of warmth and professionalism’.

Gloucester House in Weymouth followed in eighth place. The boutique bed and breakfast is praised by guests for its ‘breathtaking views’ of the Jurassic Coast, its warm welcome and cosy ‘peaceful’ rooms. The final UK establishment to make the esteemed list was The Berburry Hotel in Torquay, which offers ten rooms within a traditional Victorian villa. Travellers love this place for its ‘meticulous attention to detail’, ‘diverse breakfast options’ and ‘personalised service’.
