MotoGP schedule 2024: Dates, start times, TV channels, live stream and how to watch every race this year | Sporting News United Kingdom

The MotoGP racing season returned in March 2024, and six races into a total of 21 this season, two-time defending champion Francesco Bagnaia is under pressure to defend his back-to-back titles — most notably from last year’s runner-up Jorge Martin who has set the track alight so far this year.

A shake-up in the racing calendar and locations saw the season opener — won at the death by Bagnaia — return to Qatar’s Lusail International Circuit, while the Grand Prix of Aragon also returned to the schedule. MotoGP will also finally make its long-awaited debut in Kazakhstan this September after both 2023 meetings were cancelled, with this year’s race moved from June to accommodate the postponed Indian Grand Prix.

Bagnaia and his Ducati Desmosedici unit have been tipped to lead the way once again in 2024, and the Italian started in similar fashion to last year’s title win — edging both Martin and Brad Binder by less than two seconds in a close-run victory at Lusail, Qatar.

However, despite winning another two of the five races since, Bagnaia was firmly off the pace in both Portugal and the US, and currently stands a massive 39 points behind Martin. The Spaniard has in turn has recorded dominant victories in Portugal and France, finishing inside the top 4 at five of the six meetings so far this season.

With 21 races and 22 drivers giving their all to wrestle control of the World Riders’ Championship away from Bagnaia, anticipation remains high in the 2024 MotoGP season. To keep tabs on all the action throughout the year, The Sporting News has you covered.

2024 MotoGP season schedule

The new season of MotoGP action got underway at Qatar’s Lusail International Circuit, before the Portuguese Grand Prix saw Bagnaia’s early lead in the championship standings take a serious hit from Martin and Bastianini.

After the Qatar and American Grand Prix races concluded in mid-March and April respectively, so began a long stretch of meetings across Europe which we’re still in the middle of, traversing various spiritual homes of motorsport and some iconic circuits to boot.

With Spain, France and Catalonia all ticked off, we’ve got Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Austria, Aragon (Spain again!) and San Marino all coming up next, before the 22 riders head east for the final, pivotal races of the season.

Meetings in Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Japan, Australia, Thailand and Malaysia will be decisive for the final rankings in this year’s World Championship, which returns to Spain for the final race of the year with the Valencian Grand Prix at Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
