The Celtics and Cavaliers begin their second-round matchup in the 2024 NBA Playoffs on Tuesday night at TD Garden in Boston.

After a domineering regular season, No. 1 Boston glided past No. 8 Miami in the first round, winning the series in five games. Now the chief concern for the Celtics is health: Do-it-all, 7-3 forward Kristaps Porzingis is dealing with the calf injury he suffered in Game 4 against the Heat. His status for Game 1 is up in the air.

Amid Porzingis’s expected absence, Boston still has plenty of firepower. Jaylen Brown (22.8 points), Derrick White (22.4 points) and Jayson Tatum (21.8 points) all averaged more than 20 points per game against the Heat.

No. 4-seeded Cleveland needed seven games to win its first-round series against the fifth-seeded Magic, rallying out of a 10-point halftime deficit to win Game 7 on Sunday. Donovan Mitchell, facing a stingy Orlando defense, scored a whopping 89 points across the final two games of the series.

Though Mitchell will need to be at his best for the Cavaliers to down the Celtics, he will also need help. All-Star center Jarrett Allen missed the last three games of the Orlando series with a rib contusion. Darius Garland shot just 3-of-13 from the field in Game 7 against the Magic. In a Game 6 loss, Evan Mobley scored three points in 34 minutes.

Boston took two of the three matchups with Cleveland during the regular season. Here is everything that you need to know about Game 1 between the Celtics and Cavaliers.
